Question 1

What makes Roundfleet better than HostMyApple for M4 Mac hosting?

Accepted Answer

Roundfleet specializes exclusively in Apple silicon Mac Mini hosting with a focus on M4 chips, while HostMyApple offers older Mac Mini models with limited M4 availability. We provide better pricing, faster provisioning, and dedicated M4 Pro chip options that HostMyApple doesn't offer.

Question 2

How do the M4 Mac Mini specs compare between the two services?

Accepted Answer

Roundfleet offers M4 Pro chips with up to 32GB RAM and up to 8TB storage, while HostMyApple's M4 offerings are limited to basic M4 chips with smaller storage options. Our M4 Pro configurations provide significantly better performance for development and ML workloads.

Question 3

What about pricing differences for M4 Mac hosting?

Accepted Answer

Roundfleet offers transparent pricing starting at €99/month for M4 Pro with 16GB RAM, while HostMyApple's M4 options start at $109.99/month for basic M4 configurations. Our pricing is more competitive and includes better specifications at similar price points.

Question 4

Which service has better availability and provisioning speed?

Accepted Answer

Roundfleet provides instant provisioning and high availability for M4 Mac Mini configurations, while HostMyApple often shows '0 Available' for their M4 offerings. We maintain better stock levels and can provision new instances immediately.

Question 5

Where are the servers located and what about data sovereignty?

Accepted Answer

Roundfleet operates from our European datacenter in Toulouse, France, providing GDPR compliance and data sovereignty for European customers. HostMyApple operates from US datacenters (Atlanta, Denver, Amsterdam), which may not meet European data residency requirements.

Question 6

What about storage expansion and customization options?

Accepted Answer

Roundfleet offers flexible storage expansion from 1TB to 8TB with our M4 Pro configurations, allowing you to scale storage as needed. HostMyApple's M4 options are limited to standard configurations with limited storage upgrade paths.

Question 7

How do support and community resources compare?

Accepted Answer

Roundfleet provides fast support response times, a Discord community for developers, and comprehensive documentation. While HostMyApple has been in business since 2009, they lack community features and modern support channels that today's developers expect.

Question 8

Is there a difference in macOS versions and updates?

Accepted Answer

Both services offer macOS Sequoia, but Roundfleet provides faster updates to the latest macOS versions and maintains better compatibility with the newest development tools and SDKs. Our focus on Apple silicon ensures optimal performance with the latest macOS features.

Question 9

What about billing flexibility and hidden fees?

Accepted Answer

Roundfleet offers transparent pricing with no hidden fees and flexible monthly billing. While HostMyApple advertises 'unlimited usage,' our pricing model is more straightforward without complex bandwidth calculations or data transfer limitations.

Question 10

Which service is better for machine learning and AI development?

Accepted Answer

Roundfleet's M4 Pro chips with their enhanced Neural Engine and GPU performance are specifically optimized for ML/AI workloads. Our European datacenter location also provides better compliance for AI development projects that need to meet European AI regulations.
