What the M6 changes
M6 is the new baseline for Mac Mini. A 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, with Neural Accelerators in every GPU core — a first on this machine. That is what makes local models, image work, and agent workflows feel like they belong on a mini, not only on a workstation.
Compared with the M4 we already host, everyday compiles are snappier, graphics hold up better, and on-device AI is in a different league. Unified memory starts at 16 GB. Storage is faster. The machine stays quiet and efficient enough to leave on.
Typical work on Roundfleet:
- Xcode, simulators, and signing
- GitHub Actions or other CI on real Apple silicon
- MLX, Ollama, LM Studio, and similar stacks next to the GPU
